Having been brought up on and in the water, it was inevitable that Alan would pursue a career centered around boats.This passion for all things marine led Alan to become a trade certified boat builder. 20 years later, he has amassed a comprehensive range of experience in all areas of boat building and maintenance. After spending more than 12 years working in composite boat building, which took Alan from building super yachts in Auckland to solo ocean race boats in Tauranga, a desire to spend more time with his young family drew Alan to more traditional boatbuilding methods.Alan was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work with a local boatbuilder from Otaramarae, Rotorua, who spurred on his passion for restoring aged wooden boats and thus Craig Marine was born and he hasn't looked back since!Now located in Paengaroa, Alan has had the privilege of caretaking the wooden boats on Lake Rotoiti and he wouldn't have it any other way. He feels it is an absolute honor that their owners trust in him to keep the true integrity of these beautiful floating vessels.
